Kirkby Moor - 7.2m 1608ft - Sat 24th November

A nice friendly race put on by Black Coombe Runners from Kirkby in Furness. The start was a long steep tarmac climb from the village hall which leads out onto heather moorland with good views across the Duddon estuary. Fast going across the moor which could be difficult in poor weather though.

A bit longer than the 6.5m listed or maybe I just didn't get my route right. Mark Addison won emphatically ahead of a field of 101 but a handful of Keswick runners made the trip too.

1. Mark Addison - Helm Hill - 51:09
2.John Brown - Ambleside - 54:17
3. Bill Stewart - Holmfirth - 54:24
23. Andrew Slattery - Keswick AC - 62:40
32. Colin Valentine - Keswick AC - 64:53
75. Rachel Slattery - Keswick AC - 77:18
84. Debbie Thompson - Keswick AC - 82:01

Brampton-Carlisle 10M -Club Road Championship 2012

Yesterday saw the final race of the 2012 Keswick AC Club Road Championship, at the 61st edition of the Brampton-Carlisle 10 mile race.

With the club's runners' best two results from the three counting races, including the Lorton 10K in April, and Eaglesfield 5K in July, there were still a number of champions and placings to be decided across the Club Championship, and the popular Brampton-Carlisle offered a great chance to pick up points for the competition.

Though a little on the cool side, the rain stayed away and conditions were generally good, allowing a number of runners to record personal bests for the distance. Well done to all those who took part.

Full Tour of Pendle 17m 4800ft Sat 17th Nov

A great race following a big figure of 8 up and over Pendle Hill which only really starts after 11 miles and ends with three progressively longer and steeper trips to the summit plateau. It definitely feels like 17 miles afterwards.

A total of 450 entered and 382 started.

Carl Bell won back to back victories despite worrying about finding his way round ahead of strong competition from the local teams.

1. Carl Bell - Howgill - 2:27:01
2. Ian Nixon - Pudsey & Bramley - 2:27:19
3. Andy Brown - Clayton le Moors - 2:29:49
